From The Head of Islamic Integration
Alhamdolillah, 18 strong-willed teachers are working with me in the Religion Department at Al Siraat College to deliver Quran, Hifz Program, Islamic Studies and Arabic. We are excited with all the programs and initiatives and continue to make dua to Allah (SWT) to give us strength and blessings to deliver the best Islamic education to your children.
We have taken a very different approach at Al Siraat College in the delivery of Islamic Studies this year and have resolved to immerse Islamic Studies in everything that we do at Al Siraat rather than merely delivering content through specified periods or time. We want the enduring understandings to be taught exclusively through Islamic Studies class. However, we believe various aspects of Islamic teaching must be an embedded part of all other subjects, programs and activities that form part of the 'spirit' of the college.
We see Islamic education at Al Siraat as a mix of Taleem (Teaching/Learning), Ta'dib (Character Buidling) and Tarbiyaah (Spiritual Nurturing). This gigantic work needs the support and assistance of the entire school community.
As for Quran, a lot of effort has gone into providing one to one support, intervention and assistance to ensure students become not only fluent readers of Quran but do so with the correct Tajweed as well. Hifz Program is now our priority area as increasing number of parents are wishing for their children to enrol in Hifz.
Arabic curriculum is currently been reviewed and changes will be effected soon for an effective language learning delivery.
As for religious programs and activities, you will be updated throughout the year, Insha Allah, through this website and also through the college newsletter.
This year, we will be undertaking many trials of new strategies and programs in a bid to find the best way to transmit and transform every student of Al Siraat College. We need everyone's support as our goals are big, challenges are many and possibilities well before us. Just remember, we can succeed collectively so let us support each other and get rewarded by Allah (SWT). This is not my work or your work alone. We are all in it together and let us continue our efforts and not be dulled by any set backs.
